PREFACE
I’m Abdel Benakki — 26, born and raised in Morocco, and I’ve been based in Paris for eight years. Before that, I made a stop in New York and studied at Pace University, then the American University of Paris, and Institut Français de la Mode, where I graduated in 2022 with a degree in Luxury Management.
I currently work at Le Labo, curating the brand partnerships across Europe for brand awareness alongside my incredible marketing director Greg Kohler and an amazing diverse team in Paris.
When I’m not working, traveling, meditating, cooking, or digging for vintage jewelry, you’ll probably find me on a dance floor with close friends — resetting to the kind of deep, soulful house that feels more like a spiritual practice than a night out. Think Larry Heard, Chez Damier, Ron Trent… and maybe a little Roland Clark whispering in the background. I’ve even considered signing up for actual dance classes, but so far, the club has been a perfectly fine classroom!
What is Elegance to you?
Elegance, to me, begins with small acts of kindness & genuine interest in others — asking a thoughtful follow-up question during small talk, saying hello and thank you, holding the door open for the next person. Whatever comes after — the clothes, the posture, the aesthetics — feels empty without that baseline of genuine grace. Kindness is the soul of elegance I think.
What's one of your favorite songs?
Jomanda — Make My Body Rock (1990). It’s raw, euphoric, and full of feeling. It’s been on my rotation for the past few weeks — There’s something about it that keeps pulling me back in. Very much obsessed!
A movie that inspires you?
Le Grand Voyage by Ismaël Ferroukhi. It’s a quiet, beautiful film about distance, faith, and the things we don’t say — between generations, between cultures, even within ourselves. It stayed with me long after the credits rolled.
Favorite color?
Black, always. Not sure why — it just feels right.

Wedgwood Black & White Jasper Silver Ring.
Let’s start with the Wedgwood Black & White Jasper Silver Ring. This piece is particularly special to me because it was a gift from my dear friend Niki Galopine for my 25th birthday. She has an incredible eye for vintage jewelry, and when she found this 1976 hallmarked Wedgwood cameo ring, she knew it was meant for me. The black and white jasperware cameo, with its delicate classical figure, is framed in sterling silver with London hallmarks and the maker’s initials JW (Josiah Wedgwood)—a true collector’s piece. It still sits in its original Wedgwood No. 1 box, just as she gave it to me, a reminder of that moment and our friendship.

Then there’s the Le Labo Personalized Travel Tube Case—a piece that’s been with me since my first day at work. It holds ROSE 31, a scent that’s never left my side. This matte black metal case isn’t just about protecting the fragrance; it’s about carrying something familiar—a constant in the midst of movement. It’s been tossed into bags, packed for flights, and pulled out in countless cities—a quiet ritual that travels with me. Fragrance is memory, and every spray from this case feels like a reminder of where I’ve been and where I’m going.
This Saint Laurent Snake Bracelet was a gift—from me, to me. I bought it at the end of my internship there, a small but meaningful way to mark the moment. The serpent design, with its gold metal scales and black glass bead eyes, felt like the right symbol—shedding old skin, stepping into something new. It’s bold yet understated, with just enough weight on the wrist to serve as a reminder: of the work put in, the lessons learned, and the doors that opened because of it. I still wear it when I need that energy—when I want to feel grounded but sharp, ready for whatever comes next.
This custom-made jewelry piece was designed specifically for me. It holds deep personal value, as it was a thoughtful gift from someone who once held a special place in my heart. The blend of brown and yellow gold creates a refined, understated elegance. The design is timeless, with a warm, sophisticated tone that feels both personal and meaningful. I cherish it not only for its beauty but for the memories and sentiment behind it.
This handmade gold ring is a cherished family heirloom, passed down from my grandma to my mom, and eventually to me. The craftsmanship is rooted in the tradition of the Erfoud region, where skilled artisans have perfected their craft for generations. The design is simple yet elegant, with intricate details that reflect the region’s rich cultural heritage. It holds deep meaning—not just for its beauty, but for its connection to my family’s history and the memories of those who wore it before me. Every time I wear it, I feel that sense of continuity and tradition.
This silver ring comes from the iconic Ponte Vecchio. I got it during a trip to Florence simply because it fit perfectly—and I love things that fit just right.
This Amazigh bracelet is a true treasure I discovered while vintage hunting in the heart of the medina in Rabat, deep within the labyrinth of the souk. I’ve always had a deep appreciation for Amazigh culture and its stunning craftsmanship, especially in jewelry. The bracelet is intricately designed, with a unique, earthy elegance that speaks to the heritage and timeless beauty of Amazigh artistry. Each detail reflects the rich tradition of the region, and wearing it feels like carrying a piece of that history and culture with me. It’s not just jewelry; it’s a connection to the past, a celebration of craftsmanship, and something I deeply cherish.

Favorite spots in Paris?
BAR: I’d say DEVIANT. The staff is incredibly attentive and friendly, which really enhances the overall experience. A cute place to congregate.

RESTAURANT: I still love my usual spots, but I recently made a wonderful discovery. I went to Café Very for lunch, and it was such a pleasant surprise. The service was impeccable, and the best part was the peaceful atmosphere—we were the only ones there, which made it feel like a hidden gem. Tucked away in the heart of the 2nd arrondissement of Paris, it’s the perfect spot for a quiet, intimate meal. The food was just as delightful, and the whole experience felt special. Definitely a place I’ll be returning to.
